Star Wars!

It's hard to believe another week as passed and the puppies are entering their third week of life! Eyes and ears have opened up, they are moving about the pen and beginning to interact with each other. And a growling and barking 2 week old puppy is pretty darn adorable. I promise I will get a video or two up soon. If you are interested in seeing the videos, follow us on Facebook or Instagram.

They are finally big enough for collars so we can identify them easier and so now is the time to put up individual photos and names so everyone can pick them out in upcoming photos. We usually pick a litter theme revolving around something that our family has recently experienced together like a book, story or movie. We have just wrapped up the Star Wars series with our kids and we usually keep to themes that they are most excited about. So Star Wars it is! You may have no idea what I'm talking about and that's ok. I've found that if you didn't grow up watching the movies, you usually think they're weird as an adult lol. But I did grow up on Luke and Leia Skywalker, Han Solo and the Death Star and so it has been fun to enjoy a piece of my childhood with my kids!

Alright here they are!

This time of year is so full! On top of Easter celebrations, we have two birthdays - this year it's a 17 year old and a 19 year old - yikes. Tim took our 14 year old on a special one-on-one trip to Mammoth Cave National Park.

It's soccer season with 5 kids playing this year AND the ramps are in! Ramps are an interesting southern delicacy that most people have never heard of unless they grew up here. They are a strong wild onion type plant that are around for a few short weeks in the spring. People will pay a pretty penny for a small bunch of them and ramp-flavored everything is advertised at local restaurants. The only problem is, they're becoming more and more difficult to find. We are blessed to have thousands on our property. And I mean thousands. We forage for a local man who sells them to restaurants and we sell a few hundred pounds every spring. A great way for the kids to earn a little spending money. And if you harvest them correctly, they come back year after year :). Keeps us busy in the woods for a few weeks every spring. Anyway, interesting farm tidbit. The biggest challenge has been training the dogs to keep off of them!!
