Two Weeks!

The puppies are two weeks old - how time flies!  It’s about time that I announced our litter theme! Fall Fun 🤩

In birth order:

Green collar: Cinnamon Roll (Sable male)

Pink collar: Candy Apple (Shaded sable female)

Blue collar: Spiced Cider (Tri-color male)

Orange collar: Jack O’Lantern (Tri-color male)

Grey collar: October Harvest (Shaded sable male)

Purple collar: Maple Leaf (Tri-color female)

This has been an extra fun time to have puppies as Moriah just celebrated her 9th birthday this weekend.  So we celebrated all sorts of fun fall things while we came up with names for the new little bundles. We camped out in the back yard, took a train ride, and visited a fall festival.

And because apparently we don’t have enough living things in our home right now, we wrapped up birthday weekend by introducing a kitten to the family.  Moriah named her Ruby.  She was bottle fed bc the mama cat abandoned the litter so she is VERY snuggly.

She enjoys the puppies immensely - they are the only things remotely close to her size!

The puppies are starting to liven up slowly.  Their eyes are almost completely open, ears should be following soon.  And instead of just laying around and feeding, they are all beginning to get their “sea legs” I like to call them , as they wobble around the box trying to get some stability underneath them.  It’s pretty darn cute.  Before you know it we’ll be starting them on some solid food and Lucy will get a bit more of a break.  She has been her typical awesome mama self.  The slightest peep and she dashes back to the box.  If my two young dogs even glance in the direction of the laundry room, Lucy grumbles her warning, putting herself between them and the door.  And if she’s feeling particularly wary, she’ll park herself right outside the box and just watch.  I appreciate so much how well she protects them, feeds them, and cleans up after them.  You couldn’t ask for a better mama.

Besides weighing them every day to keep tabs on their growth, we start something called Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI).  I have a blog post here that I like to share rather than going into all the details again.  I usually get my kids on board to help with this daily routine to help move things along. No one ever complains that they get to play with a puppy :).

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!
